Biography

Kim Orellana is currently the lead guitar player of all female death metal band Castrator. She joined in 2020 to help record their album Defiled In Oblivion. Soon after, the band signed with Dark Descent Records who supported them on their album release Defiled In Oblivion, in July 2022. To Promote their new album, they recently did a mini tour Defiling The Midwest followed by a month long U.S tour, To The Death, as support for Exhumed, Vitriol, and Escuela Grind. She is getting ready for their upcoming shows in May in North Carolina for Carolina Chainsaw Massacre Fest II , as well as Northwest Terror Fest in Seattle, California. Featuring bands like Incantation, Possessed, Gruesome, Exciter, and Massacre, Misery Index, and Ghoul. A little background.. Kim grew up in Los Angeles, CA with her neighborhood being Hollywood and KoreaTown, she was surrounded by much diversity when it comes to culture and music. There was inspiration all around her! Her biological father was a Trumpet composer and musician in a latin band called Los Silver Stars. Later on in life, her step-father inspired her to play guitar when he brought home a Gibson LesPaul supreme in seafoam green, style guitar. It wasn't until she was 15 years old, when she asked her mother to buy her a guitar, amp, band Tees and CD’s for her birthday, that she actually began playing guitar. It was then when it all started. In high school she performed and competed in the marching band as an alto sax player and started her own metal band called Orchid. She then played in local metal acts, which include blackened-death-thrash band Insentient. Kim is also a single mother of a 7 year old son and a part-time student, majoring in electrical engineering. She is currently working on completing her own EP and hopes to expand to other genres in the future where she can express her love for guitar/singing.
